Head of School’s Letter
Welcome to Wildwood Christian Academy!
As Head of School at Wildwood, I want to welcome you to our website. An educator for almost 40 years, 20 of which were with The Westminster Schools of Atlanta, I am understandably proud to be associated with Wildwood Christian Academy. Just in its fifth year, Wildwood has already achieved some notable distinctions. We have received accreditation from SACS (the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), SAIS (the Southern Association of Independent Schools) and NAIS (the National Association of Independent Schools). In addition, Wildwood is associated with GISA (the Georgia Independent School Association). Each of these educational organizations bases membership on high educational standards and attentiveness to continued improvement. Certainly, this identifies Wildwood as a school of quality and is a tribute to the philosophy and mission, “academic excellence in a Christian environment,” envisioned by the Founders and implemented by them, the faculty and staff.
An outstanding group of professional educators comprise our faculty. They view teaching as more than just a job; for them, it is a vocation – a calling. With a low student / teacher ratio, the faculty can be involved on an individual and personal level with each child, and this has produced positive results. Wildwood students, as a whole, have consistently scored above the 95th percentile on nationally normed standardized tests. As a college preparatory school, Wildwood has assembled a challenging academic curriculum; however, the mainstay of the learning process has to do with preparing children to think, rather than memorize. This ensures that our students will be well-equipped for the future.
As a Christian school, Wildwood values each child’s God-given gifts and encourages growth through daily devotionals, a weekly Chapel led by visiting clergy, and a Biblical Studies course as part of our Upper School curriculum. Additionally, our sense of community allows for the reinforcement and growth of Christian principles.
I would encourage you to continue browsing through our website, view the video and become aware of all that is happening at Wildwood. More important though, I hope that you will visit the campus and see first-hand how exciting learning can be. I look forward to meeting you personally at that time.
