Learning at Wildwood is NEVER limited to the classroom!

At Wildwood Christian Academy, the curriculum and scheduling reflect the school’s emphasis on education outside the classroom where students learn in different ways and begin to understand themselves, others, and how they relate. Weather permitting, each day students enjoy a mid-morning snack and free play outside on the ball field, basketball court, or play structures. In the afternoon, students have physical education which includes gross motor skills practice, games, free play, or a nature hike on the trail around the campus’ thirteen acres. In addition to these daily activities, students take advantage of the area around Wildwood Christian Academy is located to enrich the curriculum being taught in the classrooms.

Field trips by the younger students to Burt’s Pumpkin Farm, Hillcrest Apple Orchard, the Atlanta Zoo and Amicalola State Park, among others, serve to extend and enrich the curriculum.

Students have traveled to sites such as Fernbank Science Center, the Tellus Museum and Reinhardt College’s Funk Heritage Center to make concepts in science and social studies come alive.

Washington, D.C., St. Simon’s, Jekyll and Cumberland Islands, as well as the Okefenokee Swamp, have been destinations for Wildwood’s Upper School students. These extended trips serve not only as an academic experience, but also as a bonding experience for the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders.

Wildwood realizes that knowledge gained off the school campus and guest speakers invited to assemblies on the school campus aid in making the educational experience more concrete. Learning at Wildwood is definitely not limited to the classroom!
