Wildwood Loves PAC! October 14, 2010

A big Wildwood Christian Academy “WOOF” to the Parent Action Council for its AMAZING efforts over the last two weeks. You have made sure that Wildwood has been well represented in our community through your involvement in the Marble Festival and Oktoberfest.   Marble Festival: In case you missed it, the Marble Festival was held in Jasper on the 1st weekend of October.  Every year the Festival kicks off with a parade and this year PAC entered Wildwood in the float competition. Mrs. Cook worked with our students to develop the theme: “Can You Believe What Marble Is Used In?” and also make the props and costumes. Mrs. Cook and Mr. Duffy both worked tirelessly to design and decorate the float. Saturday morning, with a beautifully created float and students in costume, The Wildwood PAC float came in 2nd Place in the float competition and also received a $50 award . . .  GREAT JOB, Float Crew! Float Riders: Alexis Cook, Susannah Melton, Alex Lupi, Tori Hicks, Hannah Smith, Adam Ward and Sean Duffy Walkers: Sarah Disharoon, Ryan Duffy, Abby Hopkins, Billy Ruff, Matthew Curry and Jackson Melton Thanks also to Mr. Clay Eubanks, who not only donated a truck and trailer to serve as the float, but customized it to ensure the safety of the riders. Thanks to Julie deGalleford for providing the American Graffiti soundtrack and to Amy Teague for submitting the application. Also, thanks to the following parents for walking the route with the students: Darlaine Ward, Rhonda Duffy, Patricia Hopkins and Bob Curry.  A special thank you goes out to Mr. Frank Duffy, for being our “Crew Chief.”  Oktoberfest:  Traditionally held in Big Canoe in early October, this year Wildwood’s PAC was asked to run the Kid Zone tent in addition to the PAC Christmas Tree Sales tent. As no job is too big for the Wildwood PAC, they were up for the challenge! Under the leadership of PAC President Cesar Fernandez and with the help of the Wildwood Student Council, Wildwood students and parents staffed these tents and enthusiastically represented our school. Staffing the Kid Zone: The Eubanks Family, Kendall and Adam Ward, Alex Lupi, The Melton Family, Hannah Smith, Billy Ruff, Tori and Darlene Hicks, Melissa Lowrie, Amy Teague, Crystal Landrum, Heather Golden, Patricia Hopkins, Mary Cay McMullen, and Lara and Madison Eddleman. Staffing the Christmas Tree/Spiritual Art Tent: Pamela Ruff, Tracy Bost, Beth and Caroline Singleton, Patricia, Nadia and Abby Hopkins, Darlaine Ward, Mike and Lauren Melton, Alex Lupi, Greg McMullen, Randy Robinson, Cesar Fernandez, Melissa Lowrie and Billie Foulk.   A special thank you to Cesar Fernandez for coordinating the Wildwood Oktoberfest efforts and to Cindy Lupi for her Spiritual Art Cards and Tiles (benefiting WCA & PAC).   Next time you see these students and parents, make sure to thank them for volunteering on behalf of your Wildwood Parent Action Council!   THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!!
