Frequently Asked
Questions
Q: What is PAC ?
A: PAC stands for Parents
Action Council, Wildwood’s version of the PTA. The mission of
PAC is for parents to work together with the Board of
Trustees, Administration, Faculty and each other to enrich our
children’s educational experience. PAC currently has 9
Officers on the Board, and members on the Advisory Committee.
All families are strongly encouraged to join PAC by paying
yearly dues of $50.00 and partnering in their child’s
education. 100% participation is needed to receive future
grants for Wildwood Christian Academy.
Q: Why should I join PAC?
A: PAC strives to
communicate pertinent information to the parents via the
website, newsletters, general meetings, and class
representatives. PAC also provides valued support to the
school through various avenues; including fundraising events,
social gatherings, school activities and charitable programs.
Past contributions include:
*Teacher Christmas gifts
and Teacher Appreciation gifts at the end of the year
*All classroom parties
and PAC social events
*Teacher wish lists
*Technology upgrades, new
storage facilities, website enhancement, and newsletter
publication.
Q: What is the communication
chain that should be followed if I have a question concerning
my child?
A: A personal issue
should be handled one-on-one with the parent and teacher via a
note in the courier or a meeting. Non-personal questions will
be handled in the following manner: Parent ~ Class
Representative ~ Class Representative Chair (Betsy Eubanks) ~
PAC Board ~ Faculty ~ and back again. This may appear to be
a long process, but the stream of communication ensures
correct answers and keeps everyone “in the loop.” Please be
aware that our Head of School, Lyn Cates, is always available
for us! Simply call the school at 770-893-3300 or talk with
Administrative Assistant, Darlaine Ward, to schedule an
appointment with Lyn. We are fortunate to have an ‘open door’
policy with our faculty and teachers!
Q: What are the Class
Representative responsibilities?
A: Class Representatives
are the communication between the teachers, parents and PAC.
They are the first line of defense about questions, concerns
or ideas that arise from parents. They are to notify either
Betsy Eubanks or Lyn Cates, depending on the nature of the
question. Responsibilities include: coordinating class parties
and social events; mystery readers; communication to parents
regarding special projects for each classroom during special
events (Teacher Appreciation Day, Thanksgiving Dinner, Auction
Gala, and Community Service Projects).
Q: How do I volunteer for
school activities, field trips, classroom/teacher assistant,
lunchroom duty, auction positions, etc.?
A: Feel free to sign up
for any activities/events on the sign-up sheets posted on the
wall in the Dining Hall. Gala Chairs for each category are
also posted, along with their contact information. In
addition, the PAC Board welcomes any questions concerning the
Gala or volunteer positions. You may contact your Class
Representative with any question, concern, or availability.
Field trip driver information is communicated to the parents
prior to the excursion.
Q: How can I help with the
Gala event with no prior experience with auctions or
fundraising:
A: There is an
opportunity for everyone to help in some capacity - no
experience necessary! Chairs will be coordinating the various
committees and will give any information needed to make the
Gala a success. Please contact them ASAP for available
volunteer positions, from advertising to thank you notes to
decorations. Board Officers
Jonetta Womack and Barbi
Burris are also available to assist.
Q: What is Dinner 6?
A: Dinner 6 is a social
event for Wildwood Academy and Wildwood PreSchool families to
gather once a month for dinner in their homes. The three
families will rotate out with other families on a monthly
basis, scheduled by the Chair. Details concerning the dinner
are flexible, depending on the group’s choice (with or without
children, potluck or order in, fancy or casual, date and time,
etc). The purpose of the Dinner 6 is to facilitate new
friendships and encourage camaraderie.
Please feel free to contact your PAC Board members with any
questions, concerns, or ideas.
