Mission Statement
Wildwood Christian Academy is a college preparatory Christian school dedicated to providing excellence in education and growth in the Christian faith and its principles through a Christ-centered environment.
Philosophy
Wildwood Christian Academy believes that a child’s mental, spiritual, intellectual and physical growth are best achieved in a Christian environment. Through the belief and teaching of Christian principles along with a strong educational curriculum, the student will be able to acquire the necessary tools and support to meet the challenges of college and life’s experiences. Wildwood Christian Academy further believes that parents of our students must partner their time and be strongly involved in assisting their children in their studies and in their growth in the Christian faith. Students will be educated through a strong core curriculum in math, science, language arts and social studies. Students will be enriched in areas of art, music, drama, foreign language, Discovery, physical education and computer technology. Our students will also be educated through Biblical studies, chapel attendance and the daily teachings by our Christian teachers and administration.
Welcome Mr. Bill Shelnutt as Wildwood's New Head of School
Wildwood Christian Academy has hired Bill Shelnutt as its new Head of School, effective June 1, 2012. Shelnutt received his undergraduate degree in History from State University of New York, Buffalo, New York in 1994, where he graduated with Honors. He earned a Master’s degree in Education from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2001, and an MBA from Reinhardt University in Waleska, GA, in 2010.
Since 2002, Shelnutt has held senior leadership positions at several Atlanta-area independent schools, including Holy Spirit Preparatory School, Brandon Hall School, and Mount Pisgah Christian School. In his most recent position as Head of Preparatory School at Mount Pisgah, Shelnutt led the expansion of the Middle and High Schools from 200 students in 2004, to its current enrollment of 450 students. During his 18-year career in education, Shelnutt has also served as a teacher of various subjects including History, Literature, and Latin, and as a varsity baseball and varsity basketball coach.
Shelnutt was also instrumental in establishing partner school relationships with schools in Europe and Asia, and he oversaw a dramatic improvement in the technology available to Mt. Pisgah’s students and teachers. “The challenge for schools today is to recognize that we are charged with preparing students to compete not locally but globally. Many of the industries and technologies in which these students will work, don’t yet exist. We have to teach students to be not simply consumers of content, but entrepreneurial creators of that content, because in the new economy it is not facts, but rather the ability to think critically that will define success. Wildwood is just such a school and I am excited to join such a talented team of educators.”
Shelnutt and his wife, Susan, have twins, Annie and Will, who will turn three in June and will be attending the Preschool at Wildwood in the fall. The family will be relocating from Johns Creek, GA, to the Marble Hill area this summer.
Wildwood Christian Academy is an independent, college preparatory school, located in Marble Hill, GA, serving students from Pre-school through the eighth grade. Wildwood is fully accredited by SAIS, SACS and is an active member school of GISA.
